A Chef’s Life follows James Beard Award-winning chef Vivian Howard as she balances family, farm, and the demands of running a restaurant in rural eastern North Carolina. What began as a documentary about food became a beloved portrait of a community, a marriage, and the South itself.

The series ran for five seasons on PBS and earned Markay Media some of its highest honors: an Emmy Award, a Peabody Award, and multiple James Beard Awards. It remains one of the most celebrated food documentary series in American television history.
